People seek support for many different reasons.  Hopes and goals for therapy can be similarly diverse.  That is why at The National Psychology Clinic we offer a range of evidence-based therapies, that are personally tailored to suit each person we meet.

For some people, identifying and addressing the root causes of, or triggers for, a problem feels paramount, but it can sometimes be difficult to see the wood for the trees when trying to do this alone.  Looking at things in detail, together with a therapist, can create a fresh perspective and enhance confidence, providing a catalyst for change.  At other times, building up a broader range of practical strategies to help things feel more manageable and improve day to day quality of life may be a more pressing goal for therapy.

Whatever your goals, we will work together to ensure you feel equipped with the necessary confidence,  strategies and skills to enable you to independently continue to work on the changes you wish to make.

During our work together, we might suggest using one discrete therapeutic modality; for example Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  Alternatively, we may decide that incorporating strategies and ideas from different therapeutic approaches could be more helpful; for example, elements of Mindfulness-based Approaches or Compassion Focused Therapy alongside, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  As standard, we, provide information about the types of therapy that might be most helpful, why this is and what they involve.  Together, we would make a plan according to your goals, the practicalities of different types of therapy, and any other aspects that are important to you.
