Alice Quinton

I am currently working as a part-time honorary assistant psychologist at The National Psychology Clinic, alongside my PhD. My MRC funded PhD project is exploring the presentation and risk of post-traumatic stress disorder in autistic children and young people.

I completed my undergraduate Neuroscience degree at Cardiff University, which included a year as a research intern working with neuroimaging datasets to investigate Obsessive Compulsive Disorder for a neuropsychiatry laboratory at the VU Medical Centre, Amsterdam. This sparked my passion for psychology, and I sought a final year project in the psychology department on eye-tracking and autism in young children. During my master’s in Clinical and Therapeutic Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, my research focused on neural processing of babies faces and its implication on caregiving, alongside other research on inflammation across mood disorders.

Prior to starting my PhD, I worked as a research assistant for the Clinical Psychopharmacology group, University of Oxford, researching mechanisms for treatments of depression. Here, I spoke sensitively with research participants and patients on zoom, on the phone, or in person about their mental health.

Ultimately, I am dedicated to contributing to compassionate, empathetic, open-minded and flexible mental health-care, with the needs of the patient at its heart.
