Dr Esther Rose Profile Photo

I am a Clinical Psychologist, with additional post-graduate training in schema therapy, EMDR, Mentalization Based Treatment and systemic practice.

I have worked in the NHS for over 19 years and in private practice for the last 11 years. In the NHS I have predominantly worked with individuals who have had severe and enduring mental health problems resulting in high levels of risk of harm to themselves and/or others. Alongside my work at the National Psychology Clinic, I also work part-time within criminal justice mental health services in Hertfordshire. On many occasions I have been able support individuals to make positive personal changes despite them often being regarded as ‘untreatable’ or ‘resistant to change’ by others.

I believe that these treatment successes reflect my belief that personal change is always possible and also demonstrate my ability to adapt my approach to each individual, while only using therapies that are proven to be effective.  I bring these skills to my practice within the National Psychology Clinic in which I provide a range of psychological therapies to individuals and couples for many emotional problems including depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, anger, personality disorder, family and relationship difficulties and complicated grief.

In addition to my therapeutic work, I undertake assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism, in adults. I am also able to provide specialist assessment of personality, risk of violence, sexual violence and stalking. I also have significant experience of providing clinical supervision and consultation to staff teams.
