Assessments are a fundamental starting point for therapeutic sessions. They are usually 90 minutes in duration, and we can do these over one or two appointments.
An assessment is an opportunity for you to:
- describe current problems and the background to these;
- provide a bit more information about how different aspects of your life have been in the recent past (e.g. your health and emotional wellbeing, social and occupational circumstances, and the day to day aspects of life);
- think about the goals you would like to work towards;
- see how it feels to meet with, and speak to, a therapist and to decide together on the focus for future sessions and how they should be paced.
Towards the end of the assessment, we would offer some information about the different therapeutic approaches we think could be helpful, why this is and what they involve.
